Take an autumn walk along the Great Ridge

Mam Tor, Derbyshire

Enjoy a scenic hike along the Great Ridge walk, a Peak District classic with spectacular panoramic views.

Begin your 600 metre ascent to the summit of Mam Tor where you can appreciate stunning panoramic views. Known locally as the ‘Shivering Mountain’, Mam Tor moves at the pace of about 1 metre every 5 years leading to considerable landslides.

Continue across the ridge to Hollins Cross for views of the impressive Kinder Scout and Edale and the villages of Castleton and Hope, and hike up the incline of Back Tor to the summit of Lose Hill for simply beautiful views and a gentler terrain.

After your scenic trek, pay a visit to one of Castleton’s cosy pubs, cafes and shops to pick up a souvenir of your visit.
