The Orange Tree in Rosedale Abbey
Near Pickering, North Yorkshire
Looking after your body doesn’t need to involve colonic irrigation and strenuous yoga workouts.
At least, that’s what Graham and Sue Proctor from the Orange Tree in the North York Moors believe (and we wholeheartedly agree).
Book yourself into their eight-room guesthouse in the sleepy village of Rosedale Abbey, and you’ll be in for a rather relaxed ‘programme’ of Indian head massages, facials and other spa treatments, combined with strolls on the moors and a lot of tea and cake.
The aim here is to help you escape from the relentless cycle of Monday-to-Friday deadlines, and spend a few days doing whatever you fancy. So if that means just cosying up on the comfy sofa in the living room with the open fireplace, and flicking through a magazine – then so be it.
Similarly, when it comes to mealtimes there’s none of that portion control nonsense; if you want another glass of vino with your yummy four-course veggie dinner, go right ahead. By the end of the weekend you’ll walk away feeling blessed out and ready to tackle the world again. Aaah... that's better.
