Worthing’s Victorian-come-Art Deco landmark jutting off the coast is a must-see. Lined with colourful artwork, the pier is a top Instagrammable spot in West Sussex. Don’t miss the chance to grab a unique memento from Inspired, an independent gift shop selling pieces by local artists and makers. Whip your wellies, grab a bucket and scout out some rockpools. From Shoreham to West Wittering, there’s an abundance of coastal critters waiting to be discovered.
Have lunch at the Crab Shack

Nothing beats tucking into fresh seafood while soaking in views of the sea and one of the best places for exactly that is The Crab Shack, one of Europe’s Top 10 Beach Restaurants according to The Guardian). The Crab Shack, as you’d expect, serves up freshly caught crab, plus classic prawn cocktail (on trend again!), crispy squid and even cockle and shrimp popcorn. While you’re there make sure to snap a picture in front of their Instagrammable crab-shaped neon light!

While away the afternoon exploring the market town of Arundel. Browse its independent shops, art galleries and cosy coffee such as, Juniper Café which is loved by locals and famed for their freshly baked breads, cakes and flaky pastries.

Arundel Castle, Arun Valley and Petworth

Arundel Castle, a grand 11th century fortress is where you can retrace the footsteps of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Soak in sweeping views across the South Downs and the River Arun from one of the lofty turrets or its lush gardens.

See some of West Sussex’s wildlife species for yourself on a guided boat safari through WWT Arundel. Cross the lakes and pass the peaceful reeds where you can catch a glimpse of water voles, grey herons, snipes and tufted ducks. If you’re lucky, you may even glimpse a kingfisher perching on waterside branches. More messing about in boats can be had with The Kayak Coach on the River Arun. You’ll pass float through some of the most secluded nature reserves and countryside in West Sussex.

Petworth House, Goodwood and Tinwood
