  • Bristol Cathedral, formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity, has a long history stretching back over nine centuries. It began life as St Augustine’s Abbey, founded around 1140, and was later consecrated in 1148. Over the centuries, it was expanded and adapted, officially becoming a cathedral in 1542 and later undergoing significant Victorian-era work, which included the nave and west front. That makes the building over 880 years old, with features spanning medieval and Gothic Revival architecture, offering both spiritual heritage and a dramatic location for the many costume dramas that have been filmed here.
