Discover contemporary art at three leading coastal galleries, all linked by a scenic and historic cycle route though Hastings, Bexhill and Eastbourne.
From smugglers and 1066 heritage in Hastings to stunning beaches and Victorian architecture in Eastbourne, the Coastal Cultural Trail takes in three major galleries along England’s south coast.
Featuring The Jerwood Gallery in Hastings, the wave-inspired De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea and the contemporary Towner in Eastbourne, home of famous South Downs painter Eric Ravilious, the 20 mile-long route can easily be cycled or walked over a weekend dedicated to a cultural holiday.
Choose from three suggested trails packed with cultural activities, including an Active Trail, Family Trail and Luxury Trail, each taking in museums and places of interest, from Pevensey Castle, landing place of William the Conqueror, to the South Downs National Park. Cycle hire and luggage collection services are also available, with train services connecting all three galleries.
