Discover 2,000 years of history for free on a guided tour

Exeter, Devon

Discover one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in England on a free Red Coat Guided Tour.

There are 17 differently themed tours to choose from, including Ghosts & Legends, Murder & Mayhem, Exeter's City Wall and the summer Canal Trip, which includes a one-way boat trip to Double Locks with onboard commentary.

Exeter's Red Coat Guides are volunteers who are passionate about the city's fascinating history. No booking required, simply choose a tour, meet your Red Coat Guide and discover historic Exeter.

Visit sites not normally open to the public, including the Bishop's Palace Garden and Catacomb and see some of the city's more unusual treasures, such as the 'House that Moved', England's first public gardens, Medieval Exe Bridge and the oldest pound lock canal in the country.

Tours operate daily except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
