Be seduced by ritzy Blackpool and its mighty Tower
Blackpool, Lancashire
Soar to dizzying heights at Blackpool Tower, whirl around on its famous dance floor and be dazzled by ‘the greatest free light show on earth’.
Blackpool is one of England’s most iconic seaside resorts and has plenty to keep visitors entertained.
You can’t miss The Blackpool Tower that stands over the seaside resort at 158 metres (518 feet) high. Head to the top for beautiful views of the Lancashire coast and, if you’re feeling brave, step onto the Skywalk, a sheer glass floor. Watch a show or take part in a tea dance at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom – international dancers flock here to glide and leap on its sprung dancefloor, to the live music of the famed Wurlitzer organ that rises from beneath the stage.
Visiting in autumn? Check out the Blackpool Illuminations that turn six miles of promenade into a glittering festival of light and magic. And thrill-seekers shouldn’t leave without trying The Big One – the UK’s tallest rollercoaster.
Blackpool is in northwest England, 2 hours 45 minutes from London by train.
