As well as history galore, there’s the chance to experience a pony sale at the New Forest Centre – you just won’t be able to take one home with you.
Hard as it is to drag yourself away from exploring this unique and beautiful area, a trip to discover its secrets at the interactive New Forest Centre is well worth it.
You’ll get a whistle-stop tour through thousands of years with displays about ancient crafts such as charcoal burning and snake-catching, and you can check out the New Forest Embroidery, which recounts the area’s history, flora and fauna via 25 feet of impossibly neat needlework.
You can’t take home one of the New Forest ponies, however much the kids want to, but there is a reconstruction of the Beaulieu Road pony sales yard so at least they can get an idea of the sights and sounds of a typical trading day.
VisitEngland would like to invite you to take part in a short survey about our website.
It should take no more than a couple of minutes.
