Nidderdale's spectacular scenery is of rolling green hills, wild heather moorland, sweeping reservoirs and miles of dry stone walls. Essentially, it’s a giant playground for lovers of the great outdoors. Walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers who base themselves here will find it easy to access to popular routes and explore the network of trails. The unique geology makes it perfect for climbing, abseiling and caving too.
After a day of fresh air you’ll find a warm Yorkshire welcome in Nidderdale’s picturesque market towns and charming villages. They’re stocked with great country pubs offering beer from local breweries, superb locally sourced food and Michelin starred dining.
The great English artist JMW Turner came here to paint, and many artists still do. Look out for tucked away galleries or walk through the giant sculpture at Coldstones Cut for panoramic views. Nidderdale is in Northern England, 224 miles (360km) from London.
