July events: Penzance Literary Festival

The Penzance Literary Festival offers something a little different to its larger contemporaries – the intimate size of the venues, which are dotted about the Cornish town, make for a uniquely relaxed, informal atmosphere, with lively discussions taking place between audiences and guest speakers, many of whom have specialist knowledge of West Cornwall.

This is a truly local affair, put on by and for the community, and it prides itself on being affordable and accessible to all. It doesn’t rely on big names to draw the crowds (although you will encounter some well-known, award-winning authors on the programme), but rather a passion for words and stories, so you’re guaranteed to find something intriguing at this unique event.
