Build sandcastles at Bamburgh Beach
Bamburgh, Northumberland
Do you know your cockles from your winkles? St. Aidan and Grace Darling certainly did. And what better place to learn than on Bamburgh Beach.
Dominated by an imposing castle with flower-rich rolling dunes, views of the Farnes and a vast sandy wilderness, it’s easy to understand why Bamburgh Beach tops the charts as an all-round favourite seaside resort.
The wee’uns can spend hours recreating their own castles in the sand from the real life template, or why not grab some nets from the village shop and see what beasties you can find in the array of rock pools.
In the beautiful setting of St. Aidan’s Church are the shrines for the great founder himself and local heroine, Grace Darling. Directly opposite the church is the RNLI Grace Darling museum where you can discover all about Grace’s life, and her infamous rescue through exhibitions and stories.
