It’s a rare opportunity to get invited into an artist’s creative space, but in July they fling open their doors for you to come and take a look.
The Isle of Wight Arts has been running its Open Studios event for more than 10 years, highlighting the island as a fantastic destination for art and creativity.
The first weekend of events is usually based in West Wight, with the Quay Arts Centre in Newport always providing a base for exhibitions amongst venues that range from church halls and galleries to artists houses. Pick up one of their guides for a handy map highlighting all the locations, with opening times and directions.
Stick around for the following weekend and Open Studios moves to East Wight, reflecting a completely different range of arts and crafts in contrasting locations. All destinations including the Quay Arts Centre are completely free to enter during this event, but remember to bring your cheque book as you have the option to buy if you see something you like.
