Unleash your inner explorer at Tropical World

Leeds, West Yorkshire

Set off on a journey through the jungle, the desert and below the surface of the water to discover all of the creatures who call them home.

Look across the dry desert landscape at Leeds' Tropical World to see baby meerkats peek their heads out from behind a rock. Tread carefully along the rainforest floor, keeping an eye out for leaf-cutter ants crossing your path. Spread your wings and flutter through the butterfly house, stopping to learn how a caterpillar transforms into its final winged state.

Tropical World looks after animals from all over the world, ranging for the ultra-cuddly to the super scary. Although normally found in the freshwater lakes and swamps of Mexico, three Morelet Crocodiles have made their home in Roundhay.

The Creature Corner also houses iguanas, lizards and rare snakes - like the albino Burmese Python and Yellow Anaconda - and if you're lucky you can get up close and personal with one of the resident reptiles. Up high, the Rainforest Canopy gives you a bird's-eye view of the jungle below, filled with cotton-top monkeys and tropical birds. And down below the water's surface you're able to get a sneak peak into marine life, from smiley sting rays to colourful coral.
