South Shields, Tyne and Wear

This eclectic summer festival brings three months of free entertainment to the vibrant seafront resort of South Shields.

The South Tyneside Festival is an annual three-month celebration of music and culture in a unique setting. Soak up the atmosphere at open-air concerts in lush green parkland with spectacular views of golden-sand beaches and soaring cliffs. The musical acts range from chart-topping stars to traditional northern brass bands.

The festival also features a summer parade through the streets of South Shields; colourful floats and imaginative costumes bring a burst of excitement to the town as locals wow the crowds with their creativity.

Activities and events take place throughout the summer months of June, July and August, and admission is free.

South Tyneside is in northeast England, just east of Newcastle, which is 2 hours 50 minutes from London by train. South Shields is 26 minutes by metro from Newcastle.
