December events: Enjoy a city Christmas festival with a difference

Durham City’s traditional Christmas Festival returns with a wide range of festive entertainment in and around Durham’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Each year, Durham Christmas Market features a huge craft and gift marquee set up on Palace Green, with over 170 stalls across three days. There’s also a local food producers market, held in the stunning setting of Durham Cathedral’s cloisters.

There’s plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy, including carol services, brass and jazz bands and street entertainment.
