August events: Ooh and aah at the British Firework Championships

Plymouth’s events in August don’t get much bigger than this. Every year since 1997, thousands of visitors have travelled down to this coastal city to see one of the world's most spectacular fireworks displays.

Set over two weekdays days in August, six of the UK's best pyrotechnic companies wow the crowds and compete to be crowned champion. During the week, Plymouth Hoe plays host to a fun fair, rides and live music, alongside an array of street food stalls. 

Plymouth also hosts award-winning and world-renowned events like the Plymouth Pirates Weekend, The Transat, MTV Crashes Plymouth and Armed Forces Day.
