You've heard the band, now visit the town
Portishead, Somerset
Follow the trail to find 28 striking art works in and around Portishead’s Quays Marina, on the Severn Estuary, just south of Bristol.
If you like swimming, Portishead’s heated open-air pool is open all summer, perched on the coast with great views over to Wales. Close by the Lake Grounds is a great place for a picnic and for children to play.
There’s a pleasant woodland walk in Eastwood nature reserve with coastal views and a path down to the sea, and if you’re up for a longer walk take the coastal path past Battery Point, south to Clevedon.
Bring your bikes and try out cycle trails in nearby Ashton Court Estate and Leigh Woods. Watch the boats come and go, and enjoy an evening at one of Portishead’s restaurants including Venga Tapas Bar and Hall and Woodhouse, CAMRA award-winning bar and restaurant constructed out of recycled shipping containers that echo back to the nautical heritage of Portishead.
You can even book to have dinner in your very own shipping container!
