Discover Bathsheba's 'Everdene Farm' from Far From the Madding Crowd in Dorset.
Enjoy the superb cinematic setting of the house and wander its spectacular formal valley gardens surrounded by woodland and imagine you are a Hardy heroine.
In 2015, the beautiful 17th century manor house of Mapperton and its surrounding estate were transformed into Everdene Farm for the adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s well-loved novel ‘Far From the Madding Crowd’.
Many primary scenes were filmed here and it’s clear to see why the film’s director, Thomas Vinterberg, instantly fell in love with Mapperton; a glorious harmony of golden sandstone standing in a romantic and unspoiled Dorset combe.
Visit the house and gardens this Spring and you too can feel Far From the Madding Crowd.
