Take family breaks to new heights at Anderton Boat Lift

Northwich, Cheshire

Make family time a priority this spring at one of Cheshire's top heritage attractions.

The Anderton Boat Lift is an incredible engineering masterpiece standing 50ft high – the first successful boat lift in the world. It was originally built by Edwin Clark in 1875 to connect the River Weaver with the Trent & Mersey Canal.

With a jam-packed calendar of events, ideal for family weekend breaks, there is plenty to do at Anderton for this time of year.

On Sunday 26 March, fully embrace heritage at Cheshire’s boat lift then treat your mum to a delicious afternoon tea on site. Then it’s family fun galore from Friday 14 to Monday 17 April with the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May, prepare for an invasion as Anderton welcomes the Y Ddraig Viking Warriors for a series of entertaining displays, demonstrations and craft activities ending with a live battle.
