Take a brisk winter walk and curl up in a cosy pub
Appletreewick, Yorkshire Dales National Park
Wrap up for a winter stroll, warm up in front of a real fire, have a great meal and then admire the starry skies.
The southern Dales is a great location for an afternoon’s winters walk with the River Wharfe glistening below and the moors above, sometimes flecked with snow. Wrap up warm and stroll along well marked paths, past drystone walls with only sheep for company.
As the sun dips head to one of the two pubs in the village – the Craven Arms or the New Inn. Both offer a warm welcome, real fires, good beer and great food. As the early winters night sets in take a step outside and look up – with no light pollution in Appletreewick the dark sky is a real treat with clear views of the Milky Way sweeping across the sky.
