Spend an afternoon in the gardens of The Fishes pub
North Hinksey, Oxford
Eat away the afternoon at the Fishes, a serious gastropub with beautiful views in the Oxfordshire countryside.
There’s irony in the fact that one of Oxford’s ‘hidden’ riverside pubs is actually on the large side. So big, in fact, that there are three acres of lovely gardens stretching out around this imposing Victorian building.
So, after working your way through the seasonal menu – a good steak and a nice glass of wine perhaps – you can explore the wooded grounds that take you towards the nearby Seacourt Stream, and make a day of it.
There’s good news for our four legged friends, too: the massive gardens mean this pub is well and truly dog-friendly, so Fido doesn’t have to sit in the car while you have all the fun.
