See global superstars at the Isle of Wight Festival
Newport, Isle of Wight
See some of the biggest names in the business from the past, present and future at this legendary music festival in June.
Back in the 1970s, the Isle of Wight Festival attracted huge crowds (including a record-breaking 600,000 in 1970) and is widely acknowledged as the largest music event of its time. Fast-forward 40 years and the reborn festival continues this tradition, attracting more than 50,000 revellers each year.
Set over four days, the festival features two main stages, along with a whole host of other smaller stages showcasing a mixture of established and up-and-coming music acts. Global superstars that have graced the stages here include Bruce Springsteen, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Paul McCartney.
If you are a fan of festival nostalgia you could even take a half-day trip from the festival’s current home in Newport to the original site in Afton, near Freshwater, where just up the road you will find a Jimi Hendrix tribute statue.
