There’s no shortage of wordy stimulation and novel debate for aspiring book worms at the Chester Literature Festival.
Every year, this quaint Roman town comes alive with highbrow chatter as aspiring writers, book-lovers and famous authors descend on Chester to talk about all things written word. The jam-packed programme features a series of often-heated discussions, workshops, readings and book signings.
Previous guests have included Kate Mosse, Kate Adie, Mark Lawson, Douglas Hurd and Derek Jacobi, with eclectic topics ranging from knitting and the North to Disraeli and The Beatles. There’s even a Poetry Takeaway Van, which delivers personal, made-to-measure poems to the passing public. If that doesn’t get your grey cells buzzing, we don’t know what will.
