Full steam ahead on a loco driven by you

At Telford Steam Railway you can learn how to drive and fire a steam engine and a steam tram, or drive a diesel locomotive under the expert tuition of the railway crew. Following safety checks, you will receive a full operational briefing to gain an appreciation of the skills needed to drive one of these enormous engines. Then it will be time to take to the footplate and grab the controls to learn manoeuvring and shunting techniques!

After an unforgettable day on the rails, head to Coalport station to spend the night in one of two railway carriages on the track in front of the old station house. This award-winning self-catering accommodation is fully equipped with lounge, kitchen-diner and bedrooms. Then you can explore the surrounding woodland and enjoy a barbecue beside your carriage.
