Explore the home of William Wilberforce

Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire

Nestled in Hull’s Historic High Street is the family home of William Wilberforce waiting to be explored.

Wilberforce House is the birthplace of William Wilberforce, the famous campaigner against the slave trade. The museum now features extensive multimedia displays about slavery, Wilberforce’s life, his battle against the slave trade and, for the first time ever, his personal library can also be seen.

Take a while to stroll around the modest rear garden, many of its features unchanged since Wilberforce’s day. The house is part of the collection of eight free museums in Hull.
