Explore Cambridge University
Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Take a walking tour through the colleges that make up one of the most prestigious universities in the world – Cambridge.
When it comes to the glorious traditions of education and higher learning, it doesn’t get any more impressive than Cambridge University.
Founded by charter of King Henry III (not the Henry who killed all his wives) in 1209, Cambridge is the second oldest English-speaking university in the world.
With such an incredible history of excellence it has the distinct honour of being able to boast a frankly greedy 89 Nobel Prize winners from its former students. And alumni include the likes of Sir Isaac Newton, Sir Francis Bacon, Charles Darwin and Stephen Hawking!
Another wonderful side effect of all that history is stunning campuses. Its 31 different and distinct colleges all have their own history, stories and style – the most impressive of which you can explore on one of Visit Cambridge’s guided tours.
Sights include magnificent libraries, beautiful quads and breathtaking views from the Bridge of Sighs (Queen Victoria’s favourite) and the mind-boggling Mathematical Bridge.
