Enjoy a classic holiday by the seaside

Brighton & Hove, East Sussex

When the sun shines there is only one place to be – beside the sea.

Whether it’s dodging the foamy waves or fully submerging yourself in the water, sitting on a deckchair eating an ice cream or protecting your chips from the swooping seagulls, nothing beats the quintessentially English seaside holiday.

But if you do want to leave the beach then Brighton is the place to be. On the iconic Brighton Pier you can try your hand at the Dolphin Derby. Or step inside the country's oldest operating aquarium – the Sea Life Centre – to ride the glass-bottomed boat or marvel at sharks and giant turtles as they glide above you in the underwater tunnel.

You can even get a seagull’s view of the beach with a ride on the Brighton Wheel, which takes you 50 metres above sea level and includes a commentary by comedian Steve Coogan.
