The island where windsurfing was invented has got to be an ideal place for watersports, but Hayling has beautiful countryside as well.
Hayling Island combines all the attractions of a traditional seaside holiday with excellent sporting and leisure facilities. Windsurfing was invented on the Island and there are many opportunities for sailing and kite surfing, as well as events linked to these popular activities, including the National Watersports Festival in September.
Hayling Island holds a European Blue Flag award and its excellent beaches have been given other awards for their water quality, safety and cleanliness. The island's miles of unspoilt coastline and countryside are a haven of peace and tranquillity, where visitors can walk, cycle or ride on horseback.
The Hayling Billy Trail passes old oyster beds and the area attracts a variety of sea birds. There are safe places for enjoying swimming and beach volleyball, the only links golf course in Hampshire and other activities.
To refuel after your sporting exertions there are opportunities for picnicking and barbeques, and welcoming pubs and cafés for a good meal.
