A visit to Tanners' extensive cellars really is like stepping back to a Dickensian age. They were once named by Country Life as 'one of the ten most charming shops in Britain' not just for its huge range of wines and spirits, friendly customer service and free customer parking but also because of the very shop itself.

Set within a beautiful black and white Tudor building in the heart of Shrewsbury, the cellars hark back to an age when wine was treasured and stored in purpose built rooms complete with arches and wine bins.

Referring to Tanners', The Times said: 'Within, lies one of the most outstanding wine selections in the country'. But it is not just the quality of the selection that impresses - their staff really know their stuff too and share their knowledge in a really accessible (and non-intimidating!) way.
