Rainy Day Activities: Explore exotic worlds at Stratford Butterfly Farm

Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire

With hundreds of exotic butterflies and tropical biomes, Stratford Butterfly Farm is an ideal distraction from the weather on a rainy day.

Found just off the banks of the River Avon, Stratford Butterfly Farm gives families the chance to get up close and personal with spiders, stick insects, beetles, and (of course) butterflies of all colours and descriptions. Your little ones will be in awe as hundreds of spectacular and vibrantly patterned butterflies fly overhead in this exotic environment, complete with splashing waterfalls and fish-filled pools.

Step into the sunnier climates of South America in the Rainforest Flight Area, containing approximately 2,000 free-flying butterflies from 20 different countries. If you or your family are interested in learning more about the creatures, you can also visit the Discovery Zone to learn about their life cycle, and how they transform from egg to caterpillar and, finally, a fully-fledged butterfly!

Another area is dedicated to insect and reptile life of all descriptions; Minibeast Metropolis is home to one of the biggest collections of insects in the UK, and also houses a variety of snakes and reptiles. With constant additions to the collection from across the globe, you're bound to encounter something new and unexpected here.

Round off your trip to the Butterfly Farm with a stop in the onsite gift shop. Packed with unique presents for nature lovers and soft plush toys, you're bound to find something to take home as a souvenir of your trip.

Stratford Butterfly Farm is open every day of the year except Christmas Day with opening hours of 10am - 5pm (6pm in summer).
