Experience steam-age travel on the Nene Valley Railway

Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Visit one of England’s leading steam engine and locomotive attractions, based in Northamptonshire's Nene Valley.

Explore the beautiful Nene Valley on board a steam train that runs along the original London and North Western line from Northamptonshire to the cathedral city of Peterborough.

The vintage bus departs from Wansford Station on selected dates throughout the year, and on some days you may even catch a glimpse of a very special guest - a blue locomotive that goes by the name of Thomas. And don't forget to visit the Travelling Post Office carriage, that shows how mail was historically moved and sorted at night.

Your journey doesn't have to finish when you step off the train either. Head to the end of the line for a walk to the charming villages of Yarwell and Nassington, or stop off at Ferry Meadows and Orton Mere for more of the great outdoors. You could even have a nose around the Railworld Wildlife Haven - with its model railway, gardens and exhibitions - or check out the Wansford Miniature Railway to complete your day.
