August offers a month of jam-packed new offerings, with exhibitions, experiences, eateries, accommodation and activities, there’s lots to keep us entertained and make the most of the last month of summer and a bank holiday weekend. Before you venture out make sure to plan ahead so you’re in the know before you go.
New adventures away….
Birch, Waltham Cross
Set in 55 acres of nature, Birch offers a space for those who wish to work for the day with an office space hub or who would like to release, unwind and have a night away or two. Offering an action packed programme of experiences from foraging, bread making and well-being classes and with three bars and five restaurants it certainly lives up to the owners’ vision of feeling like a festival.

Hoxton launches Camp Hox, Oxfordshire
The Hoxton will be taking the best bits of their hotels to Camp Hox for what they promise to be a jazzed up camping experience. The package provides proper bedding, private toilet and shower facilities, a fridge stocked with goodies, pour your own port and tonic bar, BBQ with none of the cleaning up, scrumptious breakfast pack and Hox Hands on call to offer assistance throughout your stay. With only 12 tents on site, the option of sole hire and one night’s free stay in any of their London outlets, it’s certainly a luxurious and unique camping trip!

Beach Bunks in Newquay
Glamp under the stars and fall asleep to the sound of sea waves as you pitch up for the night in luxury bell tents at Lusty Glaze Beach. The beach is reserved exclusively for guests and offers a three-day retreat with options of sunrise yoga, Jet Ski adventures and delicious dining on the water’s edge.

Meadow Camping, Great Bircham, Norfolk
Just opened, this almost-wild site offers classic camping of old – no campers or caravans, just tents, campfires and tons of space, with Bircham Windmill just a walk away. The landscape is one of big skies and big views plus it is only a short drive to the gorgeous sandy beaches of Brancaster and Holkham.
Price: For example, 3 nights in Aug are available from £60.00 based on up to six sharing a grassy camping pitch with no electricity.
Cycle South of England
A new 230 mile off road cycling route launches this month with guidebook.
King Alfred’s Way will transport riders through 5,000 years of history, taking in Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circle, Iron Age hill forts, Farnham Castle, and Winchester and Salisbury Cathedrals. Highlighting accommodation options from camping to hotels and lots more to explore on your bike, it’s designed to be completed in ‘weekend’ stages or for those who are a little fitter a four or five day tour.

Explore North York Moors Cycleway
A ‘figure of eight’ off-road cycling trail through 200 miles scenic coast between Filey, Scarborough and Ravenscar has now launched, offering plenty of cycling-friendly accommodation, cafes and tearooms along the route.

Jousting at Hever Castle, Kent

Norwich Theatre and Lost in Translation Circus present INTERLUDE
A six-week programme of live performances and participatory activities delivered in a temporary venue adjacent to Norwich Theatre Royal in Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich. The event will open with Norwich favourite Karl Minns and will include the transfer of many shows originally intended for the Playhouse summer season, including Mark Watson, Arabella Weir, Round the Horne, Ben Hart and Graffiti Classics. The event will also see new shows especially for INTERLUDE from Theatre Royal & Playhouse regulars Jimmy Carr, Joe Ringer Band and many more big names.

Tattoo: British Tattoo Art (finally!) Revealed at The Historic Dockyard Chatham
The exhibition offers an in-depth history of British tattooing, featuring cutting edge designers, leading academics and major private collectors to tell a story challenging long-standing myths and pre-conceptions of tattooing when it comes to class, gender and age, whilst at the same time giving a voice to and celebrating the astonishingly rich artistic heritage of tattooing as an art form in the UK. On display in the No.1 Smithery gallery until Sep 2020

New Dippy’s Raceway at Norfolk’s largest Dinosaur Park

Very First Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Experience is coming to London on 13 Aug
Brigit’s Bakery and Entertainment One’s Peppa Pig have been busy working closely on a super special Peppa Pig themed afternoon tea menu to delight kids and grown-ups alike. New Freddo show on a chocolatey day out at Cadbury World
Visitors can enjoy a brand new Freddo show that is sure to delight the whole family. Autumn half-term Gruffalo Adventures at Kew
A specially curated journey through the Kew Gardens Arboretum is a must visit this October, where visitors will encounter much-loved characters from author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler’s book, including Fox, Owl and Snake, and of course, The Gruffalo. With map in hand, children can follow the tracks of each animal, leading them to the characters’ hiding spots. Young visitors will get a chance to play and explore in Kew’s striking Arboretum- home of 14,000 trees. And the very brave ones might even encounter The Gruffalo himself.

As well as our favourite cafes, restaurants and bars reopening we’ve lots of new eateries, beer gardens and distilleries to check out and keep our bellies full.
Queen’s of Mayfair, London
Have been putting the final touches in place for the grand opening in August, serving up coffee, cocktails and cakes, we’ll be sure to have our taste buds tantalised. Scheduled to open 12 Aug
Gin School, Whitby
The Lickerish Tooth Gin School is about to open giving customers the inside scoop on the gin making process and the chance to create your own unique blend from chocolate to citrus flavours, whatever your taste to can blend your own special tipple.

Truman’s Social Club, Blackhorse Lane, London
The "biggest socially distanced pub and garden in the UK” flung open its space in July serving up tasty street food and the finest of Truman’s beers to wash it all down in a safe and socially distanced space. The inside venue will open late August and over time will have an on-site brewery, taproom, street food market and live music space.

The Factory a new cultural space located in the heart of city have invited some of the world’s most exciting artists to make online works using visual art, film and digital culture to give audience’s a taste of what’s possible in the space before it’s built.
