Wild Swimming in Grassington

Grassignton, North Yorkshire

Grassington is an idyllic little Dales market town with a cobbled square, quirky shops and cosy pubs.

It’s also the ideal base for a spot of wild swimming. The surrounding area is bejewelled with plunge pools, cascading waterfalls and the pristine waters of the River Wharfe. You can ride a rubber ring down the chutes, just cool off with a paddle or brave the jump into the plunge pool at Loup Scar.

We recommend going in the summer but maybe we’re just soft. Should your inner thermostat fail you, there are great countryside walks year round – head to Linton Falls, the largest falls on the Wharfe – and there’s a grassy common near Grassington Weir that’s just perfect for picnics.
