Watch a performance by the Scarborough Spa Orchestra

Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Hear the UK’s last remaining professional seaside orchestra in the surroundings of the Grand Spa.

Listening to the Scarborough Spa Orchestra transports you back to the town’s heyday, when England’s seasides were the holiday destination of choice.

Once a mainstay of English seaside resorts, these days Scarborough is the only remaining town to keep up this orchestral tradition. The orchestra’s original ensemble first performed in 1935 at the Spa’s Suncourt and Grand Hall, where you can still watch concerts today.

Reclining on a deck chair with the sunshine on your face, you can sit back and take in the music, perhaps a tune by Ivor Novello or a song by Glen Miller, as musicians in their red, white and black striped jackets, play away the afternoon.
