September events: Live the sense and sensibilities of Jane Austen’s Bath
Bath, Somerset
Step into a Georgian world and explore the City of Bath that inspired one of England’s most famous writers.
Find out about Jane Austen, her writing and the city that inspired two of her most famous novels: Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.
Fans of the famous female author will love the city’s annual Jane Austen Festival with a packed calendar of events, including the spectacular Grand Regency Costumed Promenade - where over 500 people take part - and an array of talks, tours and dances. This year's event takes place between 13-22 September, and a full list of events can be found online.
Happen to miss the celebration? Don't despair - there are plenty of other ways to step inside her world. Visit the Jane Austen Centre and see a new waxwork which creates a lifelike portrayal of what Jane Austen would have looked like. Or explore what life was like in Regency times and take a break in the Regency Tea Rooms while enjoying a delicious cake or savoury snack.
