Take a visit to Looe Island

Looe, Cornwall

Looe Island Nature Reserve is a haven for diverse and fascinating wildlife, from silver-washed fritillaries to grey seals.

This striking Looe Island, also known as George Island, lies just 1 mile off the South Cornwall Coast near Looe and boasts 22.5 acres of natural beauty. Usually only accessible by boat, the unique Island holds a very low tide one or two days of the entire year, making those lucky enough to be in the area, able to access the island by foot across the rocky sea floor.

With stunning coastal views from Prawle Point in Devon to the Lizard Peninsula, the Island makes great walking ground, so pick up the waymarked trail or sign yourself up for a guided tour.

Described by some as an idyllic paradise in the calm summer months, Looe Island has an exceptionally mild climate allowing woodland and sea birds to nestle here, and daffodils to bloom in winter.
