Visit the home of stinky cheese at Colston Bassett Dairy
Colston Bassett, Nottinghamshire
If you’re a cheese connoisseur then a trip to Colston Bassett is a must when you are in Nottinghamshire.
Here you will find the Colston Bassett Dairy, which has been producing the world-renowned Blue Stilton for 100 years.
The distinctive, blue-veined cheese enjoys Protected Designation of Origin status, which means that it can only be produced in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.
At Colston Bassett Dairy the cheese is made in a traditional way using milk from local farms. As well as Blue Silton, the dairy also produces Shropshire Blue, which has a milder flavour than Stilton.
