Visit England’s highest, longest and deepest canal tunnel

Start your visit with a 15 minute walk down the canal from Marsden Railway Station (free parking) to the visitor centre, or at the weekends, hop on to a water taxi. Sit back and let an enthusiastic and knowledge guide bring the tunnel to life for kids, adults and enthusiasts. You’ll disembark knowing much more about the geology and history of the tunnel, as well as the folk who designed, built and later worked in the tunnel.

Refresh in the café, let the kids jump, run and explore the indoor and outdoor play areas, find out more about the canal in the visitor centre and venture to the top floor to find handmade art by local craftspeople.
