Get on your bike with the epic Viking Coastal Trail

Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate, Kent

Enjoy spectacular chalk cliffs, sandy shores and quiet country villages on unforgettable, pedal-powered discoveries.

One of the most attractive cycle routes in Kent, the Viking Coastal Trail takes in Thanet’s entire shore, from Ramsgate’s Pegwell Bay in the south, round to Minnis Bay and Reculver in the north, before winding back inland through tranquil country villages.

This 32 mile (51.4km) family-friendly route offers many tempting places to pause, seafront ice cream parlours and traditional fish'n'chips, to alfresco café dining. You can pick the trail up at any point and highlights include Turner Contemporary, Pugin’s Grange, Charles Dickens’ Bleak House and Viking Ship Hugin.

Whether you’re an experienced cyclist or a novice, you’ll find plenty to enjoy along the trail. The route is predominantly flat and off road making it ideal for family outings. Part of Regional Cycle Network 15.

Take on the challenge of the whole route or one of the six shorter themed routes
