Canal cruise through Staffordshire’s Peak District

Peak District, Staffordshire

Escape the hustle and bustle of city life by hiring a canal boat and leisurely cruising through picturesque scenery.

Staffordshire is renowned for its beautiful canals, once the beating heart of the county’s industrial past. Black Prince organise narrowboat and canal holidays. And one of the most beautiful and tranquil routes is the Caldon Canal.

From the Black Prince marina in Stoke-on-Trent, you’ll progress through the very centre of the Potteries where you can pick up some designer bargains – from Emma Bridgewater to Wedgwood. The canal route then takes you through remote countryside, becoming more dramatic as you enter the edge of the Peak District. From here you can either follow the waterway down to the tranquil village of Froghall, or to Leek town centre to browse its antique shops.

Whichever path you choose, you’ll find a wealth of gastro pubs and bistros. So moor up and enjoy some fine dining as well as some magnificent rural views.
