Uncover Newcastle Highbridge Street
Newcastle, Tyne and Wear
A cobbled hideaway off the Georgian grandeur of Grey Street, High Bridge is a must visit to uncover independent shopping and the city’s oldest pub!
High Bridge Quarter is a secret known cherished by street-smart shoppers in search of a unique experience.
Lining the cobbles, visitors are tempted not just by vintage shopping and quirky gift shops, but are welcomed by Pleased to Meet You, a gin house and cocktail bar, BALTIC 39 (BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art’s younger sibling), and a branch of The Stand Comedy Club chain.
But the best kept secret of all is situated behind the cobbles, up a few stairs, into Old George Yard. Here, music aficionados trawl through piles of vinyl at RPM, a renowned record shop open since 1988. Finally enjoy a pint in Newcastle’s oldest pub, The Old George. Dating back to the 16th Century, it’s believed that the doomed King Charles I was a regular.
