The ruins of London Wall are all that remains of the defensive wall built by the Romans around the original London - Londinium. Built in the late 2nd/early 3rd century, it was one of the largest construction projects carried out in Roman Britain – stretching for nearly 3 miles.
Parts of the wall can still be seen today in the grounds of the Museum of London, in the Barbican Estate, in a hotel courtyard on Coopers Row in St Alphege Gardens, off Wood Street and near Tower Hill underground station.
