Chainsaw sculptures capture the eye at Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill County Park in Leicestershire offers great walks in beautiful countryside and with its own artist in residence, now has a growing range of outdoor sculptures.

In 2011, chainsaw carver Peter Leadbeater agreed to produce various large wooden sculptures to be placed throughout Beacon Hill. He has since carved four new masterpieces - a 2.5m-high characterised face represented within craggy rocks now nicknamed Rock Face, a three-metre long flower bench with a separate flower seat, a comedy sheep duo, and a large globe with abstract patterns.

Two of the oldest and most loved sculptures are the Green Man and the Wizard, so make sure you don’t miss those.

The Park’s very own ranger, Steve Shaw, carved the Fairy Castle many years ago and it is still a favourite amongst younger visitors.
