Discover Howick’s heavenly history

Howick, Northumberland

With a famous cup of tea, a stunning garden and its very own bathing house, the haven of Howick Hall is one of Northumberland’s true hidden gems.

Howick Hall stands amidst spectacular gardens which feature exotic plants grown from seeds collected annually around the world.

It was home to Charles 2nd Earl Grey, who was Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834. The Earl is probably better known for the eponymous Earl Grey tea which was specially blended using bergamot to offset the taste of lime in the water at Howick. Be sure to enjoy a cup in the tea rooms.

Take a stroll along 'The Long Walk' towards the coastline at Howick Haven. Here you'll find the small beach in a rocky cove, Rumbling Kern. As you sit back and relax, look up to see the Grey family bathing house on the cliff edge. Why not book a stay here and enjoy panoramic coastal views from every window of this charming cottage.
