Enjoy dog friendly days out at Belsay Hall

Belsay, Northumberland

Explore the magnificent gardens of this dog friendly attraction with your four legged friend.

You’d think you were in Jurassic Park, not at Belsay Hall. With towering trees, exotic ferns, spreading perennials, exotic and rare shrubs, huge umbrella-like Gunnera, chusan palms and the beautiful white flowered Eucryphia, this isn’t your average English country garden.

With its very own micro-climate and lush jungle atmosphere, to enter is to be transported to a pre-historic land. The Quarry Garden was created by Sir Charles Monck, and later embellished by his grandson with masses of species of rhododendrons from China and the Himalayas, scented magnolias, flowering dogwoods and a stunning pocket handkerchief tree.

Let your imagination run wild and the adventure begin. With so many sights and smells to discover, neither you nor your dog will be in a hurry to leave.  Once you emerge back to present day, take the path through the Quarry Garden up to the Medieval Castle and explore the Hall, or re-fuel with afternoon tea or a hearty lunch in The Victorian Tearooms.
