Cycle alongside the Exe Estuary

Exeter, Devon

Jump on a bike to explore the beautiful Exe Estuary, taking in the lovely scenery, villages and landscapes along a 26 mile-long route.

Tackle a 26 mile, mainly flat route on bike or foot along the River Exe that passes through beautiful riverside towns and villages steeped in maritime history. The Exe is one of the most important estuaries in Europe for wildlife, particularly birds, so be sure to keep an eye out for winter wildfowl and waders as you follow the route.

The predominantly off-road network, links the picturesque port town of Exmouth to the bustling seaside town of Dawlish Warren, via the utterly charming estuary village of Topsham with its Dutch gable houses and the historic city of Exeter, and forms part of National Cycle Network 2.

Whether you cycle the whole route, or walk a small section, you’re guaranteed idyllic views of both the coast and countryside.
