Situated next door to the world-renowned spinal hospital, Stoke Mandeville, the Paralympic Heritage Trust Centre is possibly the world’s smallest museum but it is packed to the brim with information about the Games and the man behind them, Professor Sir Ludwig Guttmann. The museum is designed to be accessible to everyone. Don’t leave without holding the Paralympic torch.

Spend an afternoon at Rumsey’s where you can learn how to make your own chocolates. Located in the beautiful market town of Wendover, the family-owned cafe also serves food and drinks so you can feast while you learn. Their truffles are outstanding. Everyone’s favourite children’s author Roald Dahl lived in Buckinghamshire for most of his life, and the Museum and Story Centre was established near his home in Great Missenden so that his legacy could live on. Learn all about Dahl and his weird and wonderful characters and see if you can spot a BFG along the way!

Start your adventure at the fabulous Nag’s Head for lunch – the fish and chips are great! – before heading out to see the Chilterns on the back of ‘Bumble’, the bright yellow trike owned and driven by Ash who operates Chiltern Trike Tours. Make sure you have a quick stop off at Griffiths Brothers Gin Distillery and The Chiltern Brewery. If you want to stay in the area, the Compleat Angler, perched next to the River Thames in Marlow, has a fantastic Indian restaurant; Sindhu by Atul Kochhar.
