Holidays for Heroes: NHS discounts and offers for key workers

If anything, this time inside has taught us one important thing – the real heroes aren’t those who appear on our screens, but the health workers, supermarket stackers, bin men, delivery drivers and countless others who are working tirelessly to keep things ticking along. 

So, in the spirit of Captain Tom Moore, to say thank you, restaurants, visitor attractions, hotels and retailers around the country are creating giveaways, offers, freebies and discounts for NHS staff, as well as a selection of incentives for other key workers to enjoy once it's safe to do so.

 To make sure as many people as possible can take advantage of these offerings, we’ve put together an extensive list of regional and national giveaways and discounts. 

Central England and the Midlands

• Trentham Gardens are saying thank you by teaming up with Blue Light Card to offer emergency workers 25% off day entry to the award-winning gardens. 

East of England

• Over in Suffolk, Woodfarm Barns are saying thank you to the NHS by giving away a four-night getaway for a frontline staff member and their partner (and dogs, if they have any!) at either The Granary Barn in Stonham Aspbal or aboard the romantic Barge Twee Gebroeders in Woodbridge. 

North East England

• Get your hands on an exclusive card offering NHS workers discounts on overnight stays, food and drink, spa treatments and more at Tankersley Manor Hotel in South Yorkshire. 

South East England 

• London's One Aldwych is offering 52 free overnight stays at the hotel for NHS, emergency service and care workers as a thank you for all their hard work. The stay will also include a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed afternoon tea, cocktails in their Lobby Bar and a complimentary breakfast. The winners will start being announced once their doors reopen, with a small number being announced each weekend until the end of the year. 
• West Dean Gardens, near Chichester, are offering NHS staff (plus one adult and accompanying children) free entry into their award-winning gardens once they reopen. NHS nurses, doctors and their colleagues can visit as many times as they like, and will simply need to show an NHS ID on entry. 
• Nominate a keyworker of any kind and they could win an incredible 3-course dinner (with wine) at the Darwin Brasserie, located at the top of London’s fabulous Sky Garden.
• K West Hotel & Spa, in London's vibrant Shepherd's Bush, would like to thank NHS staff for their amazing work during the pandemic by offering them 50% off future stays.

South West England

• NHS workers can enjoy 50% off Brooks Hotels' city-centre locations in Bath and Bristol for stays up until April 2021.

Nationwide

• The Epicurean Club are giving away over 1,000 –one-night stays at their properties to NHS workers across the country. Nominate your NHS hero on their website by September 2020. 
• Wigwam Holidays, who specialise in camping trips, have launched their campaign ‘Gift The Outdoors’. The initiative gives you the opportunity to nominate someone that has made life easier for you during lockdown (from a shop assistant to your closest friend) to win one of two prizes – a two-night stay at one of their campsites, or one of 50 £100 Wigwam holiday gift vouchers.
• Nights On Us, an initiative aiming to unite the hotel industry and ICU nurses, have partnered with a range of hotels across the country who have generously pledged thousands of two-night stays to give these NHS heroes a break. If you are, or know anyone that is an ICU nurse, keep an eye on the website for more details on how to claim a free stay. 
• Merlin Entertainments (owners of much-loved attractions like Thorpe Park, Sea Life and The Dungeons) are giving away 10,000 free tickets to frontline workers to use at their attractions. The tickets will be available on Blue Light Tickets, a new initiative where emergency workers can enter ballots to win complimentary tickets to sports, theatre, cinema and much more.
