The beautiful expanse of the Lincolnshire Wolds lies just on Grimsby’s doorstep. With panoramic views over what seems like an endless stretch of countryside, it’s definitely one to add to your bucket list.

Once home to the biggest fishing port in the world, Grimsby has a lot to say about its spectacular past and is now recognized as one of the most important fish markets in Europe. The Duchess of Cambridge herself has paid a visit to the heritage centre, so it’s well worth a look.

The popular seaside destination was once just marshland, but after the rise of the railway, Cleethorpes has never looked back and offers a traditional seaside experience, including the all-time favourite 99 ice cream.

One of Grimsby’s best kept ‘seacrets’ is the hundreds of adorable new-born grey seal pups which flounder along the coastline of Donna Nook Nature Reserve. From October to December, thousands of seals give birth to their pups near the sand dunes – and with over 1,300 pups born annually; it’s a wildlife spectacle that attracts visitors from across the UK.

Witness the creation of society as we know it at Lincoln Castle

Lincoln Castle is the only place in the world where you can find original surviving copies of both the 1215 Magna Carta and the 1217 Charter of the Forest. An added bonus is that the Castle has just had a major renovation, and now has unparalleled views across Lincoln and the surrounding countryside.
