Climb aboard a classic steam railway at Bolton Abbey

Puffing through the Yorkshire Dales is the Embsay & Bolton Abbey steam railway where special events take place throughout the year.

The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is a volunteer-run, heritage railway running over part of the former Skipton-Ilkley line.

Travel between Embsay station, built in 1888, and the award-winning station at Bolton Abbey passing through Yorkshire Dales scenery. Refreshments are available in the tearooms and most services include a Buffet Car. Both stations feature gift shops including the famous bookshop at Embsay station, and there are picnic areas at all stations.

Special events take place throughout the year for the family and enthusiasts alike, including a 1940s Weekend, Steam and Diesel Galas, Santa's Specials and food events such as Fish and Chip and Strawberry Specials.
